CLEAN COUNTRY, HEALTHY CITIZENS

As the saying goes “cleanliness is next to godliness”, it really shows an emphasis where keeping everything sparkling clean is an ethical thing to do and is a part of our civilisation. Parents usually make a good start by always teaching their children about cleanliness and we are all hard-wired to that matter since we were born. We were bathed and soaped by our mothers and put on diapers when we were babies. As we developed and learnt better, they decided to blood us to use the toilet on our own, instruct us to wash our hands and not to cause clutter amassed in the room. These are the first step towards cleanliness and hygiene. We are not only ordered to keep our bodies clean, but to make sure our environment is salubrious as well. Homes are always neat and tidy to make sure the family members are comfortable and live a healthy life. Besides, bacteria, germs and dust are the breeding grounds of harmful microbes that cause infection and illness. And to avoid these harm and illness, we are obliged to follow the rules of cleanliness, just like how the parents teach their young children. For a parent to teach their children they have to look in the mirror and ask themselves if they are worthy enough to teach them.

Sadly some people do not take any notice of those threats above. But of course, the Terengganu State Government will not let this case happen by organising lots of campaign like “ clean country healthy citizen” which had helped many people to realise about the importance of staying clean to prevent deseases. As the year goes by, this programme has been a success to the Malaysian society. The slogan “ clean country healthy citizen” also helped the environment by realising the people for not littering garbage such as plastic bag into the sea because a sea turtle would eat it for thinking the plastic a jellyfish which is it’s main food and chock itself.

Clean country, Healthy Citizens . According to Longman Contemporary English Dictionary, fourth edition with assistant 2005, the word ‘clean’ , an adjective is defined as without any dirt or not dirty . The word ‘state’, a noun means that one of the areas with limited law-making powers that together make up a country controlled by a central government. While the word ‘healthy’, an adjective which defined as physically strong and not likely to become ill or weak. The word ‘citizen’, also a noun means someone who lives in a particular town, country or state.So, the definition of this topic is the areas that are not dirty will make someone who lives in a particular area physically strong and not likely to become ill or weak .

Terengganu is a state which located in the East coast of Peninsula Malaysia. It is popular for its sandy beaches such as Pantai Batu Buruk, Pantai Kijal, Pantai Dungun and Rantau Abang as an attraction mostly to the tourism. The beaches stretch from Kemaman to Kuala Besut, which covers nearly 140 km. Terengganu is also popular for its exotic islands like Redang Island, Perhentian Island, Tanggul Island and Kapas Island. As the beaches and islands are the main attractions in the state, these areas must always be kept clean. In fact, the whole state must be clean as a clean state ensures healthy citizens. Moreover, a clean state also reflects the attitude of the citizens themselves. It is clearly proven by Margaret Hungerford. She ever said that ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’. Therefore, this is very clear that a clean state is an image of the citizens. Besides, a clean state also gives a good picture of the community practices cleanliness as a part of their daily life.

Cleanliness is a state of being clean or the practice of keeping things clean. It is important to practice cleanliness in a daily life as this will lead to a good health. A clean surrounding will also make life feel better.There are many ways to keep our country clean. We can use public transportation or  on foot or use bicycle. It can reduce air pollution as it do not use petroleum that harm our world. Beside, wherever you go, always remember to carry a poly bag with you, so as what ever you eat its peal or the plastic packing’s just dump in that poly bag and when you are back home just throw that stuff in our dustbin. I am sure this will realise our Prime Minister propensity to have a clean country. This also satisfied people’s heart. More than that, do not litter polythene bags. We can use this bags everytime we go shopping, of course it can keep us from being charge by the cashier at the mall  every Saturday.

Keeping country clean do not stop just like that, we can keep plants around the house. Plants are amazing at cleaning their environment. Having them in your house can reduce indoor air pollutants by more than half. Just be sure that if you have pets or small children that you opt for plants that are not poisonous.

Never flush your old medications. In almost everyone’s medicine cabinet there is expired medications. But whatever you do, do not flush them! That puts them into the water, which can be dangerous. Instead inquire at your pharmacy about whether they will take them and dispose of them properly. If they cannot handle them they will at least be able to tell you where you can take them.

Do not burn your stuff anywhere that you like, especially at your backyard. This open burning can harm our world by it smoke. It is better if you plant it at your backyard. I am sure this can reduce air pollutant.

It is important to keep our country clean. Why? Because we all want to stay in healthy life.We are supposed to take care of this planet, but are we doing so? We are not doing much. The little effort put into recycling or other small things is not enough. We must make severe changes, especially with all the gas consumption for cars or all the fuel smokes from industries that affect our environment. This must stop now! The rate of global warming is increasing rapidly and we must slow it down before it is too late. We must take action now and save our world. Better you carpool.

The atmosphere is something that is around us everyday, but do we really think about the changes that occur in it. It isn't that we just aren't paying attention, but more of the fact that it is hard to notice slight changes over long periods of time. Even though the causes of global warming are known, the exact effects it will have on us in the future are yet to be determined. We, the people need to understand that we need to act now in order to keep the world as we now know it the same in the future.

Many scientists believe that humans cause the increase in temperature. Carbon dioxide is the most important gas that humans have contributed. We also have methane, nitrous oxide, water vapor and other harmful gases.If the climate changes, then it will mean we have to change how we produce our food. Rising sea levels could also affect us. It could cause flooding of coastal areas; wash beaches away, cover the agricultural land fields, and push millions of people out of their homes.

In a nutshell, we have to keep our country clean to stay in peace and safe. As a person who stayed at this earth, we can do many things to have a better life because when there’s a will, there’s a way.

A very very long time ago, before most people were born (but not that long ago that there weren't any people), among the people that were alive at that time, there was a quiet, brooding guy. This guy wasn't necessarily evil, although he was always about logic and making sense that he wasn't popular with most other people. The reason is most people do stupid things and act according to what they feel like and disregard the consequences, but that is what everybody does, so it's ok, but not for him. According to him, he wouldn't hesitate killing a little girl to save more than one other life.

Until one day, he met a very cute girl, and they fell in love. This girl was the typical nice girl, and took time to understand his logic but also explained to him why sometimes its not always about logic, for example people would do stupid things for the ones they loved, and it wasn't as stupid as it would seem, in fact it would be a brave or romantic thing to do. Slowly this guy starts to understand what the cute girl meant, and every now and then he'd do some silly things that made the girl swoon.

By a unfortunate turn of events, though, this guy came into some sort of position of power. Meanwhile, the girl died, the consequence of some selfish act by a typically selfish person. Having lost his most important thing in the world, he became extremely depressed.

Through some weird cause and effect, the guy was asked to make a choice, regarding the lives of all the people in the world. Having just experienced a selfish act from another person who cause the life of his beloved cute girl, his choice was clear. Looking at all the selfish human beings, what worth is there left in this world?

Just at this moment a little man stepped out. He explained that he and his wife was about to have a baby, in less than a week, and pleaded our main guy to just postpone apocalypse for that amount of time. This little man was a hardworking and honest man, and nobody would have the heart to ignore his request. Soon more requests flooded in, and our main guy had a hard time deciding whether to end the world or not. This was because among the honest requests, there were people who lied, and they weren't very good at lying. Every now and then, the guy gets touched and was about to stop the apocalypse, then right at the next moment another selfish guy appears and makes him want to end it once and for all.

Seeing our main guy having such a hard time deciding, the cosmic entity who proposed the choice to him decided to give him as much time as he needed to make the ultimate choice. Because nobody could stand outside for so long, our quiet guy them proceeds off to his little hut, and sits down to brood it over.

People started sending requests to him through the mail, etc. Requests came in from all over the known world at that time, but less people visited him as the time passed. Despite earlier mentioned that he wasn't exactly the nicest guy around, he still made it a point to read all the letters.

Many years passed, the guy still couldn't decide. People were starting to get complacent, although they still contacted him they just did so as a daily mundane thing. They also got their children to do so, because little kids are adorable and make people go soft, and their children got their children's children and so on.

Soon after, people started to get even lazier. They invented something called praying, which is imagining that they have telephatic powers to communicate with him and they start to just "think" the request to him. The cosmic entity returned, and see the poor guy being hindered on all the information he needed to make his ultimate choice, gave him the power to listen in when everyone tried to "pray".

Generations passed, and the guy was still trying to make his choice, while the people slowly forgot about their lives in peril. The guy became something ancient, which people knew less of, and exaggerated more. Some way or another, "requests" because personal requests, and people ask him for a blessed life, joyful family etc, thinking that it would come true. In some way it help, people who believed that it would work subconsiously worked harder to achieve what they requested for.

Today, there's all the hoopla about him. Mistranslation and miscommunication made him into some creator of the universe, who has infinite power and could bring us all to a wonderful place. Although it may not be true, it has a positive effect on the people who believe in him.
